“Over 30 years ago, my parents immigrated from Mexico to the U.S when they were teenagers. They have worked countless hours so that my brother and I can have a brighter future. Immigrants are often treated unfairly in the United States and risk discrimination, getting fired, or deportation if they speak up and demand respect. Thankfully, unions have helped protect immigrant rights. Receiving a minimum wage, a 40-hour work week, a safe work environment, and overtime pay are all examples of the wonderful victories that unions have provided for millions of individuals, including my parents.”
